Why ContentFirst came to be

We had three good reasons.

1

B2B deserves better content

B2B content always gets the first rung. In most agencies the best writers land the B2C accounts. And the juniors get the industrial pump, the SaaS platform or the enterprise software account. That is backwards. A B2B buyer takes far more risks than a B2C shopper ever will. B2B content deserves the top talent, not the leftovers.

2

B2B audiences are humans too

B2B readers are generally rational people, evaluating rational products. Most agencies treat that as a license to strip out any emotion and create content that sounds like a spec sheet. We disagree. B2B audiences may be reading about machines but in that process sits an emotion. A machine does not buy a product or service. A human does, and that human needs an emotional hook.

3

B2B research must be done by humans

B2B content demands its writers and designers do the homework. Reading the technical research, watching the engineering walkthrough, understanding what their process is doing. All of this needs doing. It is tedious which is why most folks avoid it. We built ContentFirst to do exactly that work, with purpose, and intent. It's the way we do it.

How we do it

At ContentFirst we commit to delivering king-like content every single time.

We work with the best talent, not the newest hires

Every ContentFirst account gets our most experienced writers and designers, the people we call kingmakers. That is the opposite of how most agencies staff B2B work, and it is the reason our clients notice a difference in the first draft.

We go outside-in, not inside-out

Before we write a word, we study the industry problem your buyer is actually living with. What keeps a plant manager up at night. What a compliance officer gets grilled on internally. What a CFO has to defend to the board. We read the technical literature your team already has, and we build the content around the challenge that literature reveals, not around a generic template.

We write for rational readers with real emotions

Your buyer is technical but also human. Our content respects both. That balance, rational substance carried by a genuine emotional hook, is what separates content that gets read from content that gets skimmed and closed.

We tell three kinds of stories

Brand storytelling, product storytelling, and industry storytelling. Be it a brochure, emailer, campaign, newsletter, narrative video or LinkedIn post, the format can change, our standard will not.

We build content that AI can't generate

AI engines are always scanning the web to learn, find and furnish what may appear to be good. But it takes human judgment to find what is hiding in plain sight and putting the spotlight on it. AI cannot manufacture it. AI helps accelerate research, editing and production. But it cannot interview your leadership team, uncover a compelling narrative, challenge assumptions or create an original point of view. That's still human work.

FAQs

Everything you need to know about working with ContentFirst.

We work exclusively with B2B companies. That includes manufacturing, industrial engineering, enterprise software, SaaS, financial services, technology, logistics, healthcare, infrastructure and professional services.

Yes. In fact, that's where we do our best work. We interview subject matter experts, ask questions and translate technical complexity into language your customers understand, without losing technical accuracy.

Absolutely. Many clients already have marketing teams. We become an extension of those teams, bringing specialist writing and strategic communication skills whenever they're needed.

No. Marketing is only one part of business communication. We also develop content for employee engagement, internal communication, leadership communication, stakeholder communication, investor communication, partner communication and employer branding.

Yes. Many clients engage us as their extended communication team for newsletters, blogs, LinkedIn content, executive communication, product launches, campaigns and knowledge assets.

Yes. But CRM management, for us, is not simply operating the software. The platform is only one part of the equation. We manage the content, planning, segmentation, scheduling, data analysis and funnel strategy that make CRM effective.

We don't treat CRM as an email-sending platform. We treat it as a funnel. An awareness communication needs a different message and tonality from a consideration-stage communication. The audience, content, timing and desired response all change as a prospect moves through the journey. We connect those stages, measure what happens and feed the learning back into the next communication. We see CRM as more than a marketing activity. With us, CRM becomes part of the business-development engine.

Because B2B buyers expect precision. They spot generic language immediately. They reward organisations that explain complex ideas clearly.

Understanding the product and writing content that moves a buyer are two different skills. Most in-house teams are stretched across a dozen priorities, and content is usually the first thing that gets a rushed draft instead of a considered one. ContentFirst exists to give your technical story the same craft a consumer brand gets, without pulling your team off their day job.

No. A technical buyer still makes a human decision, and they respond to writing that respects their expertise while still connecting emotionally to the problem they are solving. We keep every claim accurate and specific. We just refuse to strip the writing down to a spec sheet along the way.

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization: writing content so that AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews cite and recommend your company when a buyer asks a question in that space. Traditional SEO still matters, but a growing share of B2B research now starts with a question typed into an AI tool instead of a search bar. GEO makes sure your company is part of the answer.

Yes. We write for people first and optimize for discovery second. That includes search optimisation, semantic content structures and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), ensuring your expertise remains discoverable across both traditional search engines and AI-powered search experiences.

Three things. Our senior writers work every account, not just the pitch. We research the industry problem before we write, instead of starting from a generic brief. And our core proposition is B2B content. Not a dozen other services with content as an afterthought.

Yes. A CEO update, an internal newsletter, or a stakeholder briefing needs the same clarity and honesty as external content, aimed at a different reader with different stakes. We treat internal audiences as seriously as external ones, because a disengaged employee base shows up in customer-facing work eventually.

We start by scoping your actual requirement, not the default package. That means understanding your industry, your buyer, and where your current content is thin: internal communication, stakeholder updates, brand storytelling, or blogs and newsletters aimed at prospects. From there, our senior writers do the research, draft the content, and bring it back for your review before anything goes live. For CRM programs, we go a step further: we plan the audience, communication, timing and funnel stage, analyse the response and use those insights to shape what comes next. The result is a communication system that keeps learning.
